FIXING FOOD FOR HER PETS
Daddy,
he loved to sing. He’d get up every mornin while
I was fixin breakfast and pick the banjo and sing. Every
mornin. He’d get up and build a fire and get that
banjo and set in on it. He loved to pick the banjo.
Picked good. The old timey way. He didn’t pick
that frailin like Sheila and them picks now. Three finger
style. I used to try and sing when I was little. My
mama would sing and my grandma would sing. My uncle
too. He lived right over from us. An old Shelton man,
he used to come to daddy’s and stay, make boards
for him to cover barns with. He used to sing. Lord,
he knowed all kind of songs. |
