There are five new bridges and the bridge over the Laurel
River at Little Creek, at 240 feet, will be the tallest
bridge in North Carolina. I try to talk the foreman
into letting me go up in a bucket with the ironworkers,
but he cites liability and insurance in saying ‘no
way.’ Secretly I’m relieved.
