APPALACHIAN QUILT SHOP, HIGHWAY 23 NORTH, LITTLE CREEK

She had been selling quilts from her roadside shop for decades in Flag Pond, TN. When Tennessee opened their section of I-26 the quilt shop was bypassed so she moved it to the North Carolina side of the mountain. She and her daughter sold quilts there until North Carolina opened their section of the road and they were bypassed again. Passing the deserted store now reminds me of a day long ago with my mother when she bought her first quilt, and I got my first job in North Carolina.
